Arab Finance: Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd will shift four Gemini Cooperation services to the Suez Canal instead of sailing around the Cape of Good Hope, according to a statement.

The structural change will affect the AE5, AE11, AE12, and ME2 services, as they will join the AE15 and AE19 services, which already use the Suez route.

The AE5 service, which connects Asia and Northern Europe, will operate on a rotation of Qingdao, Ningbo, Tanjung Pelepas, Suez Canal, London, Bremerhaven, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Algeciras, Suez Canal, and Tanjung Pelepas.

The AE11 service, connecting Asia and the Mediterranean, will run through Shanghai, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Suez Canal, Port Tangier, Valencia, Barcelona, La Spezia, Genoa, Vado Ligure, Suez Canal, and Singapore.

The AE12 service, which also connects Asia and the Mediterranean, will rotate through Ningbo, Shanghai, Tanjung Pelepas, Suez Canal, Algeciras, Koper, Rijeka, Algeciras, Suez Canal, and Singapore.

The ME2 service, connecting India and Europe, will operate through Ennore, Colombo, Suez Canal, Algeciras, Rotterdam, London, Hamburg, Port Tangier, Suez Canal, and Colombo.

Last August,  Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd announced a structural change to their Gemini Cooperation’s AE19 service, shifting the route from the Cape of Good Hope back to the Suez Canal and the Red Sea.
