Arab Finance: The General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and Telecom Egypt signed a cooperation agreement to develop telecom infrastructure, expand digital services, and launch smart technology solutions across industrial zones, ports, and affiliated facilities, according to a statement.
The partnership aims to strengthen SCZONE’s position as a global manufacturing hub by attracting strategic partners across various industrial and logistics sectors.
Under the agreement's terms, the EGX-listed company will establish telecom networks to support projects under this partnership, tailored to specific technical and operational requirements of each facility.
The networks will incorporate multiple connectivity routes and access points to enhance reliability and operational flexibility, minimizing the impact of potential disruptions or emergencies on services provided to factories, ports, and industrial and logistics facilities.
Furthermore, the collaboration backs the deployment of smart digital solutions to optimize the management and operation of industrial and logistical projects, resources, and utilities, while leveraging data analytics to support decision-making.
Moustafa Shaikhon, Chairman of SCZONE, said the agreement marks a key step in modernizing digital infrastructure and boosting the efficiency of the information and communications technology (ICT) sector within the authority’s ports and industrial zones.
Shaikhon highlighted that SCZONE's strategy focuses on localizing advanced technologies and developing a fully integrated smart port ecosystem to enhance operational efficiency, streamline procedures for investors, and strengthen the economic zone's global competitiveness.
He affirmed that this collaboration supports the utilization of smart industrial city applications, the Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced data analytics to accommodate future expansions in industrial and logistical activities.
