Arab Finance: Siemens has inaugurated a new factory in Egypt dedicated to the production of critical electrical components, protection panels, and automation solutions for industrial and infrastructure applications, according to a statement.
The new factory will initially serve the local market before expanding exports to the Middle East and Africa.
Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat said the facility supports Egypt's strategy to localize industrial manufacturing, transfer advanced technologies, and increase local production of equipment used in the power sector.
The government places huge importance on localizing the manufacturing of electrical equipment in line with the country's industrial development agenda and national energy strategy, the minister noted.
He added that the ministry is working on regulations aimed at increasing the local content of renewable energy projects.
The minister affirmed that the electricity sector is supporting the local manufacturing of renewable energy equipment and components to meet domestic demand while creating export opportunities for neighboring markets.
In November 2025, Alcazar Energy Partners signed a share sale and purchase agreement with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) to construct and operate the 500 MW NIAT wind project in Egypt.
