Suez Canal Authority, Lloyd’s List Intelligence seek closer maritime cooperation

Arab Finance: The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and Lloyd’s List Intelligence explored ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination during a meeting between SCA Chairman Osama Rabie and Lloyd’s List Intelligence CEO Waqas Samad in Ismailia, as per a statement.

Rabie outlined the SCA’s efforts to strengthen its navigational services through continued improvements to the canal’s waterway and the modernization of its marine fleet.

He added that the authority has adopted flexible marketing policies and introduced several initiatives to support the green transition, in line with International Maritime Organization (IMO) directives on protecting the marine environment and reducing carbon emissions.

For his part, Samad said the visit offered a firsthand look at the Suez Canal and its role in maintaining global supply chains amid ongoing challenges, highlighting the canal as a strategic waterway connecting trade between East and West.

Samad also praised the SCA’s management of successive challenges and crises, as well as its continued communication with clients to maintain the efficiency and continuity of vessel traffic, expressing hope that regional stability would return and support a recovery in canal traffic volumes.
