Arab Finance: Egypt-based integrated energy services company TAQA Arabia has entered the Jordanian market with a project to supply natural gas to Al-Rawdah Industrial City in the Ma’an Development Area, as per an emailed press release.
TAQA Arabia will construct a 14-kilometer pipeline under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and the Jordanian government, represented by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation. The agreement covers financing for several development projects across Jordan.
The pipeline is expected to provide manufacturers in the industrial city with a more efficient and competitive energy source, supporting business expansion and efforts to attract investment to the area.
Earlier this month, TAQA Arabia’s board of directors, chaired by Khaled Abu Bakr, approved establishing a branch in Jordan to oversee the group’s activities in the country.
The expansion forms part of the company’s plans to extend its energy and infrastructure operations across the region and Africa. TAQA Arabia also operates in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Pakistan.
