US imposes up to 52.73% antidumping duties on Egyptian rebar

Arab Finance: The US Department of Commerce has imposed antidumping duties ranging from 34.20% to 52.73% on steel concrete reinforcing bar imported from Egypt, effective September 18, 2026, as per an announcement.

The order follows final findings by the Commerce Department and the US International Trade Commission (ITC). The ITC concluded that dumped Egyptian rebar imports had materially harmed the US industry.

El Marakby Steel and Suez Steel Company received the highest estimated weighted-average dumping margins of 52.73%. The rates were based on available information and adverse inferences.

A margin of 34.20% applies to Al-Ezz Dekheila Steel Alexandria Company S.A.E., Ezz Steel Company S.A.E., Ezz Rolling Mills Company S.A.E., and Al-Ezz Flat Steel Company S.A.E. The same rate applies to all other Egyptian producers and exporters not specifically named in the order.

Under the measure, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will collect cash deposits at the applicable rates when covered Egyptian rebar enters the country. The suspension of liquidation, which prevents the final calculation of duties while proceedings remain underway, will also continue until further notice.

The duties generally cover unliquidated Egyptian rebar entries made on or after March 13, 2026, when the preliminary determination was published. However, imports entered between September 9 and September 17 are excluded because the extended provisional-measures period had expired before the final injury determination took effect.
