The total credit balance within Egyptian banks during 2023 reached EGP 4.8 trillion, marking a notable year-on-year (YoY) growth of 34.5%, as per data from the statistics body CAPMAS.
Private businesses emerged as the dominant credit recipients, constituting 35.7% of the total, followed closely by public enterprises at 31.3%.
Meanwhile, households also played a significant role, accounting for 17.4% of the credit allocation.
