The Cost of a Traditional Iftar in Day One

Breaking your fast with a traditional Iftar on the first day of Ramadan? Here’s what it might cost.

A hearty meal featuring fresh duck will set you back EGP 170 per kilogram, paired with rice priced between EGP 30-37 per kilogram.

To complete the feast, cabbage costs EGP 35, onions range from EGP 15-20, and tomatoes are budget-friendly EGP 3.5-5 per kilogram.

No Egyptian table is complete without fresh greens, available for just EGP 1-2 per bundle.

These prices, last updated on February 22nd, 2025, reflect market averages and may fluctuate as Ramadan begins.
