El Gouna Film Festival launches EGP 8M Seed Fundings to empower filmmakers

Arab Finance: El Gouna Film Festival has launched a Seed Fundings initiative in collaboration with Orascom Development’s O West, with the first phase of the fund valued at EGP 8 million, according to an emailed press release.

The initiative aims to offer financial support to Egyptian and Arab filmmakers to assist them in embarking on developing their film projects.

The fund seeks to explore new cinematic talents who came up with original stories by securing initial funding, subsequently, enabling filmmakers and producers to engage with institutions, producers, and funding and grants programs to obtain additional financial support.

“The fund will support 10 film projects, with the first phase dedicated to developing full-length feature films and documentaries, and short films,” Marianne Khoury, the Artistic Director of El Gouna Film Festival, said.

For his part, Amr Mansi, Co-Founder and Executive Director of GFF, commented: "El Gouna Film Festival’s platform has proven its success since its first year. Therefore, we aim to extend the festival's positive impact on the industry throughout the entire year, not just during the festival period."

The sixth edition of El Gouna Film Festival is being hosted in the coastal city of El Gouna from December 14th to 21st.
