EGX closes Thursday with collective gains

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange’s (EGX) indices wrapped up the session in the green zone for the third consecutive trading session on Thursday, with market capitalization reaching EGP 1.876 trillion.

The benchmark EGX30 index was up 0.97%, finishing the session at 27,766.27 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 equal-weight index (EWI) rose 0.31%, reaching 6,194.17 points, while the EGX100 index increased by 0.30%, ending the session at 8,985.15 points.

The sharia-compliant index, EGX33 Shariah index, added 0.50%, closing the session at 2,736.18 points.

Trading volume amounted to 978.127 million shares exchanged through 100,727 transactions at a turnover of EGP 4.395 billion.

Retail investors controlled 69.08% of total trading transactions, while institutional investors made up 30.91% of trading.

Egyptian traders made up 85.07% of total trading transactions, while Arab and foreign investors accounted for 7.33% and 7.6%, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab traders were net buyers to the tune of EGP 7.888 million and EGP 67.752 million, respectively. Foreign Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 75.640 million.
