Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange’s (EGX) indices closed with gains on Tuesday, with a market capitalization of EGP 1.853 trillion.
The benchmark EGX30 index gained 1.34%, ending the session at 27,264.23 points.
The small- and mid-cap EGX70 equal-weight index (EWI) added 0.56% to close the session at 6,143.97 points, while the EGX100 EWI grew by 0.93% at 8,890.23 points.
The Sharia-compliant index, EGX33 Shariah index, added 1.86%, closing the session at 2,710.34 points.
Today’s trading saw 667,147 million shares exchanged over 84,849 transactions, garnering a turnover of about EGP 3.476 billion.
Retail investors controlled 57.37% of total trading transactions, while institutional investors seized 42.62% of trading.
Egyptian traders constituted 83.59% of total trading transactions, while Arab and foreign investors accounted for 8.01% and 8.4%, respectively.
Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 115.378 million. Egyptian and foreign were net purchasers with EGP 104.215 million and EGP 11.163 million, respectively.
