Arab Finance: Ministry of Finance will allocate EGP 1,000 annually for each woman who has two children at most, finance minister Mohamed Maait revealed on March 14th.

The amount will be due when the mother is 45 years old, the minister said.

Maait’s announcement came during the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between the planning and finance ministries on the financial incentives scheme under the National Project for Development of the Egyptian Family (NPDEF).

He also said that the ministry will create an account for the benefit of the NPDEF, within the unified treasury account.

Through this account, government bonds or documents are issued with the dues of women who are committed to NPDEF's terms.

Planning Minister Hala El Said noted that women aged between 21 and 45 can enroll in the NPDEF.

Launched in 2022, NPDEF aims at addressing the overpopulation crisis out of a comprehensive vision including the health, social, family and economic dimensions.
