European Commissioner to sign €90M deal, discuss Mediterranean pact in Egypt

Arab Finance: European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica will visit Egypt on Sunday, March 2nd, and sign a €90 million deal with the Egyptian government for the ‘Egypt Food Resilience’ project, according to a press release.

The project is co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The visit aligns with Šuica’s plans to foster the EU-Egypt partnership and discuss the New Pact for the Mediterranean, which is being developed in cooperation with Mediterranean partners and member states.

The pact will address shared challenges and economic reforms, in addition to backing regional security and stability.

During her visit, Šuica will meet with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, and more key officials.

She will also highlight Egypt’s efforts to bolster its political and economic reforms, affirming that the EU will continue to work with its partners to attract EU’s investments in Egypt, especially in clean and renewable energy.
