Egypt to implement unified, cross-platform transport card project

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Domestic and International Land Transport Regulatory Authority (AASTMT) signed a contract with a consortium comprised Italy’s Almaviva and Transport Information Technology (TransIT) to implement a unified, cross-platform transport card project, Ministry of Transport stated on November 7^th.

The project is aimed at organizing mass transportation to reduce traffic congestion and queuing up to buy tickets.

The project will also see the launch of an application to integrate different forms of transport-related services into one comprehensive, on-demand service.

In addition, AASTMT has signed a cooperation protocol with the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) to finance car and auto parts purchases for AASTMT-licensed transport firms.
