Egypt’s ASA, Qatar’s State Audit Bureau pen MoU on audit coperation

Arab Finance: Egypt’s Accountability State Authority (ASA) and Qatar’s State Audit Bureau have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand cooperation in public-sector auditing, exchange expertise, and develop oversight methodologies and tools, as per a statement.

The MoU establishes a framework for implementing joint activities and programs agreed upon by the two authorities. It covers the exchange of expertise in applying professional standards and modern technologies, improving audit tools, and adopting recognized professional practices.

Cooperation will extend to joint training programs and workshops, reciprocal visits, and the exchange of institutional knowledge and technical experience. The two authorities will also coordinate their participation in international and regional meetings, conferences, and seminars addressing areas of shared interest.

The agreement places particular emphasis on information technology auditing, the development of audit methodologies, and oversight of institutional performance, projects, and contracts.

Both sides said the partnership would be implemented in accordance with their respective national laws, regulations, and policies and would be based on mutual trust, equality, and shared professional priorities.

The agreement also builds on the two authorities’ participation in regional and international audit organizations. Egypt’s ASA currently chairs the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), while both authorities serve on the Executive Council of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI).

Through the agreement, the two authorities aim to establish a more structured and sustainable model of institutional cooperation. The planned exchange of knowledge and professional practices is intended to improve audit performance, raise public administration efficiency, promote transparency and accountability, and strengthen the protection of public funds.

The agreement was signed during the seventh session of the Egyptian-Qatari Joint Higher Committee, held at the Cabinet headquarters in New Alamein City.
