EGX, ITDA ink data-sharing protocol to integrate databases

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and the Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA) have signed a cooperation protocol to integrate their databases and improve access to information on companies and economic activities, according to a statement.

The protocol links commercial registry data with EGX databases to improve information quality, facilitate procedures for market participants, and support Egypt’s sustainable economic development goals under Egypt Vision 2030.

Under the agreement, ITDA will grant EGX access to data on companies registered in the commercial registry. The data exchange is expected to improve monitoring and analysis processes and support more accurate and effective decision-making.

EGX Executive Chairman Omar Radwan and ITDA Chairman Hossam El-Garrahy signed the protocol in the presence of EGX Vice Chairman Mohamed Sabry and ITDA Vice Chairman Karim El-Shafei.

Radwan said the protocol would strengthen institutional integration and information exchange between the two entities while improving the efficiency of information systems covering companies and economic activities.

He added that the agreement would support efforts to develop Egypt’s business and investment environment and facilitate transactions for companies and other parties dealing with EGX.

For his part, El-Garrahy said the two entities would pursue further cooperation, particularly in providing and exchanging data through more digital channels, in line with the state’s digital transformation plans.

He pointed out that database integration and the exchange of institutional expertise in governance, disclosure, and transparency would help improve the investment environment, develop services provided to companies, and enhance the stability of commercial transactions.

Stronger connectivity between relevant entities would also increase the efficiency of company-related services and procedures and support the development of a more integrated system for economic activity, according to El-Garahy.

The protocol forms part of Egypt’s efforts to strengthen electronic connectivity among entities involved in the investment ecosystem. It is intended to streamline procedures for investors and companies, support decision-making, and improve the monitoring and oversight of related economic activities.

A joint executive committee will be established to oversee the agreement's implementation, coordinate areas of cooperation, and evaluate results. The protocol also requires both parties to maintain the confidentiality of all exchanged information and data.
