Arab Finance: Egypt’s manufacturing and extractive industries production index increased by 5.1% month on month to a preliminary 136.44 points in June 2026 from a final 129.81 points in May, according to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The headline index excludes crude oil and petroleum products.
Beverage manufacturing recorded the strongest increase among the activities highlighted by CAPMAS. Its index climbed by 22.47% to 650.69 points in June from 531.29 points a month earlier, reflecting market demand.
The index for printing and reproduction of recorded media rose by 16.17% to 160.98 points from 138.58 points. CAPMAS attributed the increase to contracts with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.
In contrast, the food products manufacturing index edged down by 0.40% to 139.23 points in June from 139.79 points in May following the end of some agricultural seasons.
Chemical and chemical products manufacturing registered a sharper decline. The sector’s index fell by 23.48% to 110.15 points from 143.96 points, reflecting supply-and-demand conditions.
