Azerbaijan poised to host COP29

Arab Finance: The Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev announced in Dubai during the United Nations Climate Change Conference that the way is now open for his country to host the 29th edition of the climate conference in 2024, Al-Arabiya reported.
"We are very grateful to all countries, in particular to the Eastern European group and the [COP28 summit] host United Arab Emirates for their support," Babayev said during the COP28 on December 9th.
The full COP plenary will still need to vote on Baku's bid, but that is merely a formality.
If confirmed, next year’s summit will once again take place in a major oil- and gas-producing country.
The UAE, the world’s seventh-largest oil producer, was the host of this year’s COP28.
