Egypt’s daily imports of Israeli natural gas hit 900M cubic feet in January: Official

Arab Finance: The Egyptian imports of Israeli natural gas have reached around 900 million cubic feet a day in January 2024, a government official told Al Arabiya Business.

The Israeli natural gas inflows to Egypt are directed toward liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants to be reexported as LNG abroad, especially to Europe in the first place, the official said.

He added that the Egyptian LNG plants could receive further gas imports to boost the Egyptian LNG exports in fiscal year (FY) 2024/2025 after being halted last summer.

The official noted that Egypt’s production of natural gas ranges between 6 and 6.1 billion cubic feet a day, which is almost fully directed toward the local market that consumes between 5.8 and 6 billion cubic feet daily.
