Arab Finance: Natural gas imports from Israel to Egypt have surpassed the pre-Gaza war levels after rising 15% month on month (MoM) in January, hitting about 1.15 billion cubic feet per day, a government official told Asharq Business.
This could help the North African country in a time it suffers from USD shortfall by boosting its exports and enabling it to partially secure foreign currency, the official noted.
He added that the daily Israeli natural gas exports to Egypt have reached an average of 1.15 billion cubic feet since the beginning of 2024, compared to nearly 1 billion cubic feet per day in December 2023.
In mid-January, it was reported that the Egyptian imports of Israeli natural gas reached around 900 million cubic feet a day.
