Arab Finance: The deadline for Egyptians abroad to apply for the tax-free car import initiative is on April 29th, with no intentions to extend it further, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait announced on April 4th.
The government has finally released 27,000 cars so far for Egyptians living abroad under the initiative, Maait pointed out.
He noted that the state also issued 250,000 car import approvals valid for five years, adding that they are working on accelerating the procedures as much as they can.
Moreover, the country has collected over $750 million from Egyptian beneficiaries living abroad.
The number of beneficiaries from the initiative has reached 490,000 so far, Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority (ECA) El-Shahat Ghatouri said.
