El-Labban steps down as GCEO of Ahli United Bank

Arab Finance: Adel El-Labban has stepped down as Group CEO (GCEO) of Ahli United Bank after holding office for two decades, according to an emailed release on March 15^th.

During his tenure, El-Labban was named twice CEO of the of the Year – Middle East by EMEA Finance and named Arab Banker of the Year 2009 by the Union of Arab Banks.

Moreover, he received Lifetime Achievement Award from The Banker Middle East and, in 2015, the Arab Bankers Association UK recognized his “Distinguished Services to Arab Banking.”

He also contributed to the merger between the United Bank of Kuwait PLC (UBK) and Al-Ahli Commercial Bank B.S.C (ACB), resulting in the creation of Ahli United Bank in 2000.
