Arab Finance: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla met with Terje Pilskog, CEO of the Norwegian Scatec, to review the latest developments of the company’s ongoing green projects in Egypt, the ministry stated on September 13th.
Regarding the green ammonia production project in cooperation with the Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM) and Misr Fertilizers Production Company (Mopco), Bielskog said that the project targets an annual production of 150,000 tons of green ammonia by producing 26,000 tons of green hydrogen annually.
The produced green ammonia will be converted to green ammonia at Mopco’s factory in Damietta.
As for the green methanol production project carried out in collaboration with ANRPC and Egyptian Bioethanol Company (EBIOL), the project will be established in Damietta to make use of the salty sea water and bio-carbon dioxide produced from EBIOL’s factory for the production of 40,000 tons of green methanol annually.
On July 26th, it was announced that MOPCO’s board approved the establishment of a company for the production of green hydrogen, in cooperation with ECHEM and Norway’s Scatec.
