Arab Finance: The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) signed a contract with a consortium led by Intelligent Globe Construction to build a new 500 kV transmission line that will distribute electricity generated from wind energy projects in the Gulf of Suez, the EETC stated.
The consortium will construct a turnkey 500 kV double-circuit, four-conductor overhead transmission line spanning approximately 61.6 km from the Orascom substation to the Hawamdiya substation.
The line will use AAAC conductors with a 506 × 4 mm² cross-section, OPGW fiber-optic ground wire, and AACSR ground wire with a 94.1 mm² cross-section.
The project is designed to transmit electricity generated by wind farms in the Gulf of Suez at 500 kV, increasing the unified national grid's capacity to absorb renewable energy while improving transmission efficiency and supporting electricity supply stability.
Construction is scheduled to be completed within 12 months of the contract signing.
