Arab Finance: The Ministry of Industry signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Finnish mining technology company Metso to provide technical and operational support for mineral processing and extraction, with a focus on iron ore and phosphate, as per a statement.
The MoU, signed during the Egypt Mining Forum 2026 event, involves cooperation in research and laboratory analysis, feasibility studies, and advanced technical assessments aimed at optimizing the utilization of Egypt’s mineral resources.
It also includes engineering consultancy and the deployment of field experts to support local teams and companies, improve operational efficiency, and facilitate knowledge transfer.
The agreement is expected to pave the way for subsequent detailed and executive agreements defining the technical and commercial scope of individual projects.
Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem said the agreement backs the ministry’s efforts to develop the mining industry as a priority sector, while strengthening industrial integration and creating greater opportunities for investment, local manufacturing, and export growth.
