Madbouly reviews state-owned companies' restructuring, divestment plan

Arab Finance: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly followed up on the latest developments in restructuring state-owned enterprises and the progress of the government's divestment program, which is being implemented under the State Ownership Policy (SOP), according to a statement.

During the meeting, Madbouly reaffirmed the government's commitment to continuously monitoring the performance of state-owned companies while steadily advancing its divestment plan.

The strategy aims to maximize the value of state assets, improve management efficiency, and attract local and foreign investment while boosting business confidence in the Egyptian economy, Madbouly added.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa affirmed that the restructuring program intends to deliver a leap in the performance of the companies by enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Eissa pointed out that the initiative focuses on modernizing management systems, expanding production capacity, improving performance indicators, strengthening oversight mechanisms, and reinforcing governance and transparency standards.

These measures are expected to bolster the competitiveness of state-owned companies and increase their contribution to Egypt's economic development objectives.

Meanwhile, Hashem El-Sayed, assistant prime minister and head of the State-Owned Companies Unit, reviewed the latest progress in implementing the government's divestment plan, noting that the program is proceeding according to the announced timetable.

The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) recently launched a readiness program to prepare state-owned companies temporarily listed on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) for public offerings.

Madbouly previously directed companies approved for listing on EGX to complete the sale of their designated stakes before the end of 2026.
