SCZONE, India explore expanding industrial investment cooperation

Arab Finance: The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and India explored ways to strengthen investment cooperation and expand Indian industrial projects across the zone’s priority industrial and logistics sectors, as per a statement.

The discussions took place during a meeting between SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien and Indian Ambassador to Egypt Suresh K. Reddy at the authority’s headquarters in the New Capital.

Gamal El-Dien reviewed SCZONE’s efforts to attract foreign direct investment and highlighted the presence of Indian projects across several of its industrial zones.

Indian companies operate in diverse sectors within the Sokhna Industrial Zone, while Indian investments were among the first to target the mining industry in the East Ismailia Industrial Zone. SCZONE has also signed its first Indian project in the Qantara West Industrial Zone, he said.

Gamal El-Dien noted that SCZONE’s location and infrastructure allow companies to produce locally and export to regional and global markets. The authority aims to attract further Indian industrial investments that can benefit from these advantages.

SCZONE is planning a promotional tour in India during the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2026 or Q1 2027. The tour will present investment opportunities within the zone and strengthen engagement with the Indian business community.

Reddy, meanwhile, said Indian companies are interested in exploring additional opportunities within SCZONE. He also expressed the embassy’s willingness to continue working with the authority to deepen economic cooperation between Egypt and India and encourage more Indian businesses to invest in the zone.
