Egypt has steadily increased the price of butane cylinders over the years. In 2016, the price was EGP 15, rising to EGP 30 in 2017. By 2018, it reached EGP 50, and in 2019, it was EGP 65. The price continued to rise, reaching EGP 70 in 2021 and EGP 75 in 2022, according to data from the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
As of March 2024, the price hit EGP 100, with a further increase to EGP 150 in September 2024.
In 2025, the price further climbed to EGP 200.
