Egypt has 73 earthquake monitoring stations that recorded 29 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or higher, according to 2023 data by the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG). 

These efforts reflect lessons learned from the devastating 1992 earthquake, which caused 561 deaths, about 9,832 injuries, and $35 million in economic losses.
