Arab Finance: US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is set to meet with top Egyptian finance officials in Washington on Tuesday, January 9th in a bid to address Egypt's economic woes exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in Gaza Strip, Reuters reported.
The Treasury Secretary's meeting is expected to involve discussions with key figures, including Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, and Governor of Central Bank (CBE) Hassan Abdalla.
Earlier this month, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Jihad Azour announced that Negotiations between the fund and Egypt will be resumed within the next few weeks, with the preparation for the two delayed reviews of the country’s $3 billion loan program.
