Egypt aims to harvest up to 3.6M tons of local wheat next season

Arab Finance: Egypt aims to receive between 3.2 and 3.6 million tons of local wheat from farmers during the next harvest season, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali El-Moselhy told Asharq Business.

Egypt’s wheat harvest season begins in mid-April and ends by mid-July of 2024.

Egypt raised its wheat imports to 11 million tons in 2023, compared to 9.6 million tons in 2022.

Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El-Sayed El-Quseir revealed before that the area of cultivated wheat during the current growing season, which began in November 2023 and will last until January 2024, so far reached 3.062 million feddans, an increase of about 500,000 feddans over the previous season.
