Arab Finance: The Egyptian government has signed the framework program of the United Nations’ (UN) Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Egypt, as per a cabinet statement.

The program was signed by the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El Sayed El Quseir and FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa Abdul Hakim Elwaer.

The program is part of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) to support the Egyptian government in achieving its development objectives as well as the presidential initiatives.

The program’s estimated budget in Egypt amounts to around $71 million, including providing technical support for agricultural activities, El Quseir noted.

He added that the program targets improving and governing food monitoring systems as a top priority, along with setting the related comprehensive multi-sectoral policies and legislations.

Moreover, it covers promoting the management of agricultural lands, water, fertilizers, pesticides, and other agricultural inputs.
