Egypt raises wheat procurement price to EGP 2,000/ardeb

Arab Finance: The Egyptian government has raised the wheat procurement price for the 2024/2025 harvest season to EGP 2,000 per ardeb, as per a cabinet statement.

Egypt aims to receive between 3.2 and 3.6 million tons of local wheat from farmers during the next harvest season.

Last November, Egypt raised the reference local wheat procurement price from EGP 1,500 to EGP 1,600 per ardeb to encourage farmers to plant and supply strategic wheat.

Egypt’s wheat harvest season begins in mid-April and ends by mid-July of 2024.
