Government indefinitely cuts natural gas supplies to local fertilizer plants

Arab Finance: The Egyptian government has indefinitely halted natural gas supplies to local fertilizer factories, notifying them of this decision by official letters, Chairmen of four government firms told Asharq Business.

The move aims to restore natural gas supplies to normal levels, one source in the know told Asharq Business.

It was reported last month that the government aims to boost its natural gas production by about 8% in the next fiscal year (FY) 2024/2025 to an average of 5.7 billion cubic feet per day, compared to 5.3 billion cubic feet per day currently.

As of May, Egypt reportedly suspended exports of LNG, in order to meet the demands of power plants.
