EGX closes Thursday with collective gains

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange’s (EGX) indices wrapped up the session in the green zone for the second consecutive trading session on Thursday, with market capitalization reaching EGP 1.793 trillion.

The benchmark EGX30 index was up 1.09%, finishing the session at 26,417.6 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 equal-weight index (EWI) rose 1.04%, reaching 5,929.76 points, while the EGX100 index increased by 1.19%, ending the session at 8,555.84 points.

The sharia-compliant index, EGX33 Shariah index, added 2.15%, closing the session at 2,609.72 points.

Trading volume amounted to 767.065 million shares exchanged through 74,389 transactions at a turnover of EGP 2.867 billion.

Retail investors controlled 62.21% of total trading transactions, while institutional investors made up 37.78% of trading.

Egyptian traders made up 75.98% of total trading transactions, while Arab and foreign investors accounted for 5.19% and 18.83%, respectively.

Arab and foreign traders were net sellers to the tune of EGP 30.118 million and EGP 212.095 million, respectively. Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 242.213 million.
