Egypt puts pause on customs release of special needs vehicles for 6 months

Arab Finance: Egypt has decided to halt the customs release and pre-registration of vehicles for people with special needs for six months, Asharq Business reported, citing an official document.

This temporary measure aims to overhaul the current system to ensure that vehicles better cater to the needs of individuals with disabilities.

Proposed amendments include restricting the engine capacity to 1,200 cc, and any vehicle exceeding this limit will be treated like standard cars of similar engine capacity.

Imports of vehicles for people with special needs constitute approximately 25% of Egypt's total car imports annually, Deputy Head of the Automotive Division Osama Abu Al-Majd told Asharq Business.
