Egypt forms two new ministerial groups

Arab Finance: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has issued two decisions to establish the Ministerial Group for Human Development and the Ministerial Group for Industrial Development, as per a statement.

This move aligns with Madbouly’s announcement that the new government aims to create specialized ministerial groups to address specific issues more efficiently and ensure effective government operations.

The Ministerial Group for Human Development will be headed by the Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development, who is also the Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar.

Its members include the Ministers of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Youth and Sports, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Local Development, Social Solidarity, Endowments, Labor, Culture, Education, and Technical Education.

The group may invite additional ministers, heads of bodies, or experts to attend its meetings and assist in its tasks. The Prime Minister’s advisors will also attend the meetings.

This group will be responsible for preparing and overseeing the implementation of national strategies related to human development in areas such as health, education, culture, sports, and religious discourse.

It will also focus on linking pre-university technical education and technological education to labor market needs, implementing presidential health initiatives, managing the comprehensive health insurance program, addressing challenges in the healthcare system, and following up on the National Program for Egyptian Family Development.

The Ministerial Group for Industrial Development will be led by the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, who is also the Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El Wazir.

Its members include the Ministers of Environment, Military Production, Electricity and Renewable Energy, Local Development, Housing, Public Business Sector, Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Investment and Foreign Trade, along with the Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) and representatives from the Ministries of Defense and Interior.

This group can also invite other ministers, heads of bodies, or experts to its meetings and will include the Prime Minister’s advisors.

The Industrial Development group is tasked with developing and implementing the national strategy for industrial development, encouraging private investment in the industrial sector, and deepening the local component of national industry through specific investment opportunities.

It will also focus on developing industrial lands, issuing approvals for industrial projects, coordinating between ministries to simplify industrial investment procedures, and maximizing industrial exports. The group will meet at least once a week and provide periodic reports to the Prime Minister.
