Arab Finance: Nokia has partnered with Telecom Egypt to introduce the 5G technology to Egypt for the first time, as per a statement by Nokia.
This partnership aims to upgrade Telecom Egypt's radio access network (RAN) and introduce 5G-ready services in the cities of Alexandria, Aswan, Cairo, Giza, and Luxor, providing Telecom Egypt's customers with faster data speeds, enhanced performance, and increased capacity.
Under the deal, Nokia will deploy 5G RAN equipment from its AirScale portfolio, including baseband units, Massive MIMO radios, and remote radio heads, and different professional services, including deployment, integration, and network optimization.
“This new agreement with Nokia further strengthens our strong partnership, reaffirms our commitment to providing cutting-edge digital services, and positions us at the forefront of the 5G revolution,” Mohamed Al Fowey, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Telecom Egypt, commented.
“The introduction of 5G services enabled by our extensive portfolio will open exciting new opportunities for people and businesses in Egypt to experience enhanced mobile connectivity. Our collaboration establishes a strong foundation for driving the nation's digital transformation,” Tommi Uitto, President of Mobile Networks at Nokia, said.
Earlier in February, Telecom Egypt joined forces with Huawei to deploy a 5G network.
