Petroleum Minister holds key talks on mining at Egypt Mining Forum

Arab Finance: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi engaged in strategic discussions with key figures from international mining companies during the Egypt Mining Forum 2024. as per a statement.

Badawy met with Martin Horgan, President of Centamin International Gold, reviewing the achievements of the Sukari Gold Mine and its significant contributions to Egypt's mining sector.

Both parties agreed to schedule a forthcoming site visit to inspect operational processes.

In another session, Badawi met with executives from Aton Resources, including CEO Tono Vahk and Country Manager Cherif Barakat.

They discussed Aton's ongoing initiatives in the Egyptian gold mining industry, emphasizing the company's commitment to growth within the country, buoyed by supportive governmental policies and clear regulatory frameworks.

Additionally, Badawi conferred with a delegation from Geodril , led by CEO David Harper, underscoring Egypt's potential in mineral exploration and renewable energy resources.

Harper highlighted Geodrill's readiness to leverage its extensive experience across Africa to bolster its footprint in Egypt's mining market.

Further reinforcing international ties, Badawi met with Khaled El-Feki, Executive Director of CyPlus, to explore collaborative opportunities in mining technologies and innovations.

The discussions focused on integrating CyPlus's specialized services with Egypt's mining landscape, enhancing operational efficiencies and technological advancements.

Lastly, Badawi engaged with Patrick Barnes, Vice President and Head of Metals and Mining Consulting at Wood Mackenzie Consulting, discussing avenues for enhanced cooperation to advance Egypt's mining sector.
