Petroleum Ministry, US' Apache mull over boosting oil, gas production in Egypt

Arab Finance: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi held a bilateral discussion with John Christmann, CEO of the US-based Apache Company, and his delegation in New Alamein City, as per a statement.

The meeting focused on strategies to increase oil and natural gas production in Apache's concession areas in Egypt's Western Desert and to intensify exploration activities.

Badawi emphasized the critical need for increased cooperation between the petroleum sector and Apache.

He highlighted the importance of leveraging modern technology to enhance the efficiency of existing fields, boost production rates, and expedite the integration of new wells into the production map.

Discussions also tackled ways to expand Apache’s activities into new natural gas exploration areas in the Western Desert, aiming to further increase production.

The minister also stressed the value of integrating Apache's expertise with Egyptian petroleum cadres to develop innovative plans for boosting production. 

For his part, Chrisman emphasized the company's eagerness to advance the Egyptian modernization initiatives that began in 2021 and to collaborate with the new government on new projects.
