Egypt seeks to import 17 new LNG shipments in Q4

Arab Finance: Egypt is planning to import up to 17 new shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) during the fourth quarter (Q4) of this year, an unnamed government official told Asharq Business.

This move aims at meeting the country's need for natural gas to operate power plants, the official added.

The government is working on scaling up the availability of natural gas in the second half (H2) of 2024 to meet electricity demands during the summer.

In June, it was reported that the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) launched a tender to purchase 17 LNG cargoes for delivery this summer.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced the suspension of the electricity load-shedding plan as of July 21st.
