Electricity Ministry, ACWA Power mull boosting cooperation in renewables, green hydrogen fields

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity has probed with the Saudi ACWA Power ways to foster cooperation in the fields of new and renewable energy and green hydrogen, as per a statement by the ministry.

This came during a meeting between Minister of Electricity Mahmoud Esmat and ACWA Power’s Country Director in Egypt Hassan Amin.

During the meeting, future projects between both sides have been reviewed in light of the ministry’s strategy to further expand in the field of renewables and increase its reliance on them.

This included a review of the 1,100-megawatt (MW) wind power project and the activation of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) for additional 10,000 MW wind power projects.

Moreover, the meeting touched upon the executive steps necessary to expedite the implementation of solar and wind power projects in the West Sohag and Gulf of Suez, as well as other projects within the work strategy.
