EGX sees upward trend on Sunday

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange’s (EGX) indices witnessed a bullish trend on Sunday, with market capitalization hitting EGP 2.032 trillion.

The benchmark EGX30 index gained 2.72%, ending the session at 29,532.67 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 equal-weight index (EWI) added 2.33% to close the session at 6,653.93 points, while the EGX100 EWI grew by 2.53% at 9,572.03 points.

The Sharia-compliant index, EGX33 Shariah index, went up by 2.94%, closing the session at 2,847.14 points.

Today’s trading saw 1.186 billion shares exchanged over 119,079 transactions, garnering a turnover of EGP 4.023 billion.

Retail investors controlled 82.46% of total trading transactions, while institutional investors seized 17.53% of trading.

Egyptian traders constituted 93.63% of total trading transactions, while Arab and foreign investors accounted for 4.02% and 2.36%, respectively.

Egyptian investors were net purchasers with EGP 280.45 million. Arab and foreign traders were net sellers with EGP 122.29 million and EGP 158.16 million, respectively.
