Emirates NBD Egypt names Amr ElShafei as CEO, Managing Director

Arab Finance: Emirates NBD Egypt has appointed Amr ElShafei as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, according to an emailed press release on February 27th.
ElShafei enjoys a rich experience as he recently served as Executive Vice Chairman of Banque du Caire and is currently an Independent Non-Executive Board Member of Sarwa Sukuk, Arab Developers Holding Company, and The International Company for Medical Industries.
“We are pleased to welcome Amr ElShafei to Emirates NBD Egypt as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. Amr’s extensive experience in the banking sector makes his appointment a valuable fit for Emirates NBD Egypt, as he has held prestigious positions in many multinational and local banks over a span of 29 years,” Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim, Chairman of Emirates NBD Egypt, commented.
“ElShafei is an accomplished banking executive, his leadership skills and strong track record combined enable him to play a pivotal role in steering the bank through the next phase and meet clients’ expectations. I am confident that his appointment will contribute to continuing to achieve the strategic goals of Emirates NBD Egypt,” added Al Qassim.
