Egypt’s unemployment rate slips to 6.5% in Q2 2024

Arab Finance: The unemployment rate in Egypt declined to 6.5% in the second quarter (Q2) of 2024 from 6.7% in Q1, Al Arabiya Business reported, citing data from the Egyptian Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Total labor force went up by 1% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to 31.397 million in Q2 2024 from 31.101 million.

Labor force in urban communities reached 13.758 million during the April-June period, while in rural areas it hit 17.639 million people.

In terms of gender, the data showed that 25.537 million of the Egyptian labor force in the three-month period were males, while 5.86 million were females.

The number of unemployed reached 2.104 million, 1.136 million males and 968,000 females, in Q2 2024, the data revealed.
