Arab Finance: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with a delegation from Weatherford International to discuss enhancing cooperation in digital services and technology for oil and gas production, as per a statement.
The talks focused on digitizing oil fields and wells at Khalda Petroleum's sites in the Western Desert, where the first phase, connecting 30 wells to a digital system, has been completed.
The next phase of this project aims to digitize another 70 wells by 2025.
Badawi emphasized the importance of leveraging advanced technology to boost petroleum production and increase exploration and research efforts.
For his part, Weatherford’s Vice President for MENA highlighted the company’s commitment to expanding operations in Egypt and contributing to the country’s goal of becoming a regional energy hub.
He also noted that Weatherford doubled its business volume in Egypt over the past years, and is working on further scaling it up within the coming years.
