Badawi participates in GasTech 2024 conference in US

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi participated in the opening of the Gastech Exhibition & Conference in Houston, Texas, as per a statement.

The event, being held from September 17th to 20th, features a range of energy ministers and leaders from international energy firms.

At the opening ministerial panel, titled "From Mitigation to Adaptation: Navigating Volatile Geopolitics in a Fragmenting Global Order," Badawi joined participants.

These participants included India's Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, the US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, and Nigeria's Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.

Badawi highlighted Egypt's strategic role as a key player in the natural gas and hydrogen trade due to its infrastructure and natural resources.

He emphasized the need for investment to support carbon reduction and advance renewable energy sources to contribute up to 42% share in Egypt’s energy mix by 2030.

He also discussed leveraging technology for better production and exploring Egypt's potential to process and re-export gas from the Eastern Mediterranean to Europe.

The minister reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to enhancing its energy sector and attracting investment to maximize the value of the country’s natural resources.
