Arab Finance: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with several prominent intellectuals to discuss pressing national and global issues, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdel Aati, as per a statement.
Madbouly emphasized the importance of listening to diverse perspectives to guide the state’s strategic direction, particularly during these complex times.
During the meeting, Madbouly highlighted the exceptional and rapidly changing political landscape in the region, stressing that the current circumstances make it challenging for governments to predict the near future.
He reiterated Egypt's longstanding foreign policy principles, focusing on protecting its national and regional security without external ambitions.
Madbouly noted that Egypt remains a stable force in the region, with a commitment to maintaining internal security and addressing challenges beyond military concerns, such as political, economic, and developmental security.
He underscored the government's efforts to ensure the provision of essential services to citizens despite unprecedented challenges.
Madbouly also pointed out the economic impacts of geopolitical factors, such as significant revenue losses from the Suez Canal, which have affected the state's ability to meet its financial needs.
On economic reforms, the Prime Minister noted the government's progress in fiscal policy adjustments, reducing external debt, and boosting foreign exchange reserves.
He explained efforts to expand the clean energy sector, aiming for renewable energy to represent over 42% of the energy mix by 2030.
He also discussed the significant increase in desalinated water production to meet the growing demand due to population growth and limited Nile River resources.
