Arab Finance: The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) is working on increasing telecommunications service prices over the coming period, the authority’s Executive President Mohamed Shamroukh told Asharq Business during a press conference.
Shamroukh depicts this increase as inevitable, mainly after the surge in energy prices, which raised operational costs for firms in the sector.
He added that raising telecommunications service prices has become essential to ensure appropriate delivery of services to citizens.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian government collected up to $675 million from selling fifth generation (5G) service licenses to the four telecom operators in the country.
