Arab Finance: The Egyptian government is planning to launch the first phase of the electrical interconnection project with Saudi Arabia in April instead of May 2025, a government official told Asharq Business.
The official ascribed this postponement of the trial operation date by one month to the country's efforts to expedite the project's timeline in collaboration with the Saudi side.
Accordingly, the actual operation of the project’s first phase with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts (MW) is set to take place in June instead of July 2025.
Installation of the project’s 20-kilometer-long submarine cable will be finalized in March 2025, the official noted.
